After hours of trying to find out how to get this working, I ended up connecting the laptops via an ethernet cable and by chance was messing about in the network connections. I bridged the ethernet connection to my wifi connection and bingo bango, it works!This is something relatively simple that you could try before getting into the confusing world of consoles and command prompts.
