It was annonced the other day that 8-4 was going to be involved in the translation process of Xenoblade Chronicles X. I cannot stress how awful this announcement is or how bad it is. Me neither, how can you be sure that 8-4 decides censorships?
I do not think 8-4 is the one to blame. Do you not think that any decisions in censorship rather come from Nintendo of America? Sadator wrote:8-4 isn't localizing it. Though cut content doesn't confirm they wont be making script changes like 8-4 is notorious for. The fact that they changed words that were already in english like Doll and Testaments to things that don't make sense in like 'Skell' still has me worried.
I too am worried about the localized version. Sometimes, the localization team just goes way off their way to make something acceptable to the audience they're translating for, that they end up creating something completely different from the original source!I have heard news that Rin's age had been changed from 13 to 15, just like Lyn's age from Fire Emblem was changed from 15/16 to 18/19. But the most jarring news is of her bikini outfits. 13 years old girls are not allowed to wear swimsuits in the West? Have we gone back to the 50's?It's not even the fact we can't see a fictional character in revealing clothes. It's about the fact we still have to deal with the idiocy that is censorship over a foreigner product, when great part of national products are as much or even more guilty of the same practice! Also, this needs to be said, 8-4 IS NOT localizing this game and they ARE NOT making any final decisions on what does or does not get changed. They are simply helping with the voice work, they even said as much in the Pax Prime panel.
Again, this is not anything more then a rumor being spread by a single person who took an off screen picture that focuses on the clothes on a character instead of taking a picture of the whole screen so that we can actually confirm that what they are claiming is true. Lyn's proportions look the same in the English trailers and the 'censored' costumes already exist in the Japanese version. 8-4 confirmed that Lin's age didn't changed.

The new one sounds more engrishy to me because of how badly formed it is. It has entirely too many 'the's and 'of's in it and 'The legacy' is especially ridiculous since it implies a specific legacy that's not ever made clear within the acornym and makes the thing feel disjointed. 'Beyond Logos' makes sense because it's saying 'beyond the concept of god' and then the second part 'Artificial destiny emancipator' is straightforword and direct.
The entire name was a reference to the Monado 'The God Killing Sword' It wasn't called the 'god killing sword' because shulk Killed Zanza with it, it was called that because it basically destroys the traditional concept of God, which is BLADE's purpose. To seize the destiny o.
